Established in 1982 by David Wilson, Bartington Forge is a small family run blacksmithing business.

Since Davids retirement son Peter has taken over the running of the forge & seeks to offer high quality work with special detail to service. David, however is still involved with masterclasses.

Peter is a highly qualified blacksmith & has recently recieved his diploma of merit from the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths.



Using traditional and modern methods Bartington Forge produces handmade decorative and ornamental ironwork, tools for industry, ironwork for the inland waterways, security work for local councils and customised items for individual clients.


We offer a design service for gates and railings, interior and garden furniture, weather vanes & fire furniture. 

We can also work copper, sheet metal using chasing & repoussé techniques.

Bartington Forge is situated on the main A49, 3 miles north of Weaverham and 400 yards north of the Acton Swing Bridge over the River Weaver, on the north bank of The Trent and Mersey Canal.

It is easily accessible from the north via the M56, from junction 10, follow the A49 Whitchurch signs south for approximately 4 miles to the main crossroads with the A533. Continuing south we are 600 yards further on, on the right hand side adjacent to the canal, we have a car park at the side of the  Forge to offer off road parking.
